Owner/ Head Trainer
Cheyanne Gunter
Hello, my name is Cheyanne Gunter. I'm the owner of DemDogz Behavioral Modification Dog Training. I grew up in Dawson Creek and moved away to complete many years of on-the-job training and education. I've been working and living with board-and-train dogs for over 6 years, and in that time have had plenty of hands-on training at a specialized aggression rehabilitation doggy daycare (TT Animal Rehabilitation and Therapy on Vancouver Island). In that time, I competed a 2 year apprenticeship as an Aggression Reactive Rehabilitation Dog Trainer. We not only dealt with aggression cases, but also difficult obedience problems, fearful dogs, anxious dogs, and many other problematic behavior types. We also facilitated groups of puppy's learning how to properly socialize in "fun play". I have personally helped over 100 dogs and handler/familys gain control, focus, and respect from their animals by helping them over come many training and behavioral obstacles. My mission is unify people and their pets, allowing them to live a safe, healthy, and happier life together. Im currently in collage for the canine specialist course through Stratford career institute and soon to be completed I'm also working there sexier then a squirrel course threw absolute dogs. I also play agility with both of my dogs to practice focus, obedience, and control.
Trainer assistant/
PerryWinkle (AKA Hippo)
At 8 years, soon to be 9, PerryWinkle has lived a full life, as a puppy running a muck on a farm. At 1 years old he attended human daycare having fun playing with the other youngsters, naturally being gentle, kind, and comforting. He provided much mental and emotional support for the children. During that time he also joined his mom wile working as a nanny for 4 kids of different ages, bonding close to the youngest of them all with autism he offered a constant companion with stable emotional support, always having to be touching each other. He has worked as a emotional support dog in a pottery/art studio, greeting all people who visited the shop and offering support to the many people attending classes or dropping in for art work. Unfortunately at the age of 2 he was attached by another dog and hospitalized. After this tragic event he became dog reactive and had to be specially trained with the right tools and techniques. Getting the help he needed led him and his mom in to the path of helping other dogs with aggression and/or reactivity issues. At age 5 Perry worked in a specialized aggressive/ reactive doggy daycare, helping other dogs with many different issues. He has enjoyed helping other dogs build confidence, feel welcome, comfort stressed or scared dogs, desensitize and socialize dog reactive/aggressive dogs, worked very closely in puppy play care, helping teach social cues, and proper play. In this time he also completed the canine good neighbor program passing the CKC test deeming him a safe part of any community. Currently he has completed basics and fundamentals of agility and is working on intermediate behaviors. He runs as many fun matches as he can attend, enjoying the sport, the environment, and the social aspect. Working with DemDogz he teaches proper socialization with dogs of any age, training level and/or behavior. He loves to offer emotional support to stressed, fearful, or shy dogs helping them gain confidence and work through behaviors. He assists with one on one training sessions, safe socializing class, training classes, puppy play class, and works closely with all board and train dogs.
In Training
Bijue Bug
Bijou Bug (B Bug) soon to be 3 years old, pug Boston terrier cross. He was adopted by the owner of DemDogz in May of 2023 however this is not the first time she had met him. When B Bug was about 7 months old he should severe signs of aggression and anxiety, he was brought to the doggy daycare/training facility where Cheyanne Gunter completed her apprenticeship. He completed a 2 weeks board and train program however he still had a few issues to work on and a lot of training up keep and maintenance. His family tried there best to keep his behaviour under control, however the mother became very ill and could not keep up with the work loud and his training took a few steps back. They made sure he attended regular doggy daycare to keep him confident around other canines. As time went on and the family took more lessons to help the little guy however he was a lot of work and needed consistent specialty training. Mother fell very ill once again, this time they needed to make the move home to get special care. They were moving home to France and needing to transport the dogs back to mother's birth home. B bugs sisters were sweet happy little dogs who had no issues with strangers or other pets. B bug however was good in class and good in daycare but would struggle with the stress of a move a long flight and being quarantined for 72 hours without his family. Instead of putting him through the stress of a trip overseas, they decided to give him to Cheyenne Gunter who absolutely adored b bug. B bug went to his new home with his new brother may of 2023 and started a new adventure. Determined to help B Bug through his reactivity/aggression issues and also help calm his anxiety Cheyanne Gunter will continue and modify his training. B Bug was put on a consistent training program, through out this time his reactivity and aggression tendencys got better but still showed on a daily basis and especially if any over stimulation or anxiety situation was present. Coming to understand he may need more help then just training it was time to consult the veterinarian. B bug was diagnosed with a mental health disorder, and was prescribed a medication that would help with his anxiety which leads to reactivity and aggression. With continuous training and the proper medication B bugs anxiety has greatly decreased he now can fully focus on training and learning to settle in high stimulating or stressful situations. Car rides are now enjoyable for everybody involved, he can also now go into public areas and enjoy many different activities. He is currently in agility once a week, on the days he's not on the agility course he practices, at home. He's also doing bite work with a proper bite sleave to learn when and what is appropriate to bite. He attends safe socializing class with Demdogz.
He is now able to help in some one-on-one training sessions
